Q: Is the Glass Safe?
A: Yes, The glass
we use is 10mm tick toughened safety glass, which
is approx 5 times stronger than normal glass. All the
edges are
polished and arrised so there are no sharp exposed
edges.
Q: Do they leak?
A: With careful
design and good tiling there is no reason why a frameless
screen should leak,
There are a few fundamental rules:
-
Design your screen so that the shower rose does not
face the door but instead faces a glass panel
- Tile
the floor of your shower with the prescribed step
down and ample fall to the waste or use a hob around
your shower.
- Ensure
the floor waste in the shower and the waste pipe are
an adequate diameter eg: 100mm
- Make
your shower rose choice wisely
Q: Are they expensive?
A: Of course the
answer to this is relative. When assessing the cost
of any shower screen it is important to ensure you
are comparing 'like' products.
You need to look at the quality of the components (
glass and hardware used), the labour and skill involved
in measuring and installation and the overall beauty
of the screens compared to others on the market.
In terms of price our 'Series 2' frameless screen is
the less expensive of our two ranges.
Furthermore we also have our 'Sheer' screen, a very
cost effective 6mm semi-frameless screen, with only
a top and bottom track, no vertical aluminium members
at all.
This screen is a stunning alternative to a completely
frameless screen at a far more affordable price.
Q: How long do
they take to manufacture?
A: Generally around
2 weeks depending on the lead time for the glass manufacture.
Leadtime can at times stretch to 3 weeks depending
on demand.
'Series 1': The installations take 2 visits and these
visits are at least 3 days apart to allow for silicone
curing.
'Series 2': The installations are completed in 1 visit.
Q:
Do I need to have the corner glass shelf?
A: Unless the door
to your screen is hung directly off the wall
there is
a need to brace most screens with either a glass corner
shelf or a glass or chrome header bar across the door.
